DJ was born in Chicago, IL and lived in the Humble Park area before moving to Oak Park prior to starting Junior High. After graduating from Oak Park River Forest High school he entered an engineering program with the expectation of becoming a nuclear engineer or Astrophysicists. When the school, very politely, asked him to leave he entered the nuclear training program in the US Navy.

He transferred into law enforcement when he washed out of that program when his undiagnosed dyslexia prevented him from distinguishing between valve 21 and 12 quickly enough.

Yeah, we really don’t talk about that…

After being honorably discharged from the Navy he went back to College and got his BS degree. Since then he has worked as an Enterprise Architect and Developer while writing Science Fiction/Fantasy stories on the side.

He now lives in northeast Wisconsin with his wife, 3 dogs, 2 cats, flock of chickens, and random wildlife.

When he’s not coding, writing or fishing he enjoys being visited by his children and grandchildren.
